Hello, I’m Quai Wentt, and I founded the Purple Squirrel Network to address the disparities in tech recruitment and help underrepresented software engineers gain the skills and opportunities they deserve. Through our Leetcode classes, I teach engineers data structures and algorithms, preparing them to excel in technical interviews.
Our mission goes beyond just training; we strive to create pathways for talented engineers from diverse backgrounds to break into top tech companies. By joining our network, engineers will not only gain technical expertise but will also have access to job referrals from companies committed to improving their DEI efforts.
We believe that by equipping underrepresented engineers with the right skills and connecting them to the right opportunities, we can help change the face of tech and build a more inclusive, innovative industry.
Frequently asked questions
Have questions about the Purple Squirrel Network? Find answers to common queries below.
Who is the group for?
This group is designed for software engineers from underrepresented groups (BIPOC, women/nonbinary individuals). It’s not for those completely new to coding; it’s for those who already know how to code but need to strengthen their knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
What is the format of the group?
The group meets three days a week for one-hour sessions. We start by working on a Leetcode problem, then I discuss the brute-force and optimal solutions, and I walk through the code line by line. Sessions are interactive, and there’s time for questions at the end.
What will I learn?
We focus on identifying and solving problems based on common patterns found in data structure and algorithm interviews. You will learn how to apply these patterns effectively and implement solutions in real-world interview scenarios.
What time does the group meet?
The group meets three days a week:
- Mon/Wed/Fri at 2pm EST / 11am PST
- Sessions are recorded if you can’t attend live.
Why the name "Purple Squirrel Network"?
“Purple squirrel” refers to a rare, ideal candidate who meets every job requirement. Similarly, underrepresented tech talent is rare and valuable. We help you become that "purple squirrel" with the right skills and opportunities.
How much does it cost to join?
Our services, including Leetcode classes and job referrals, are completely free for all members. Our goal is to make tech opportunities accessible to underrepresented engineers without any financial barriers.
